A pioneering figure in Swiss industrial design, Richard Authier devoted most of his career to Paillard, a leading company in northern Vaud, where he helped design its radios, Thorens record players, Bolex cameras, and Hermes typewriters.
Trained as an industrial designer and engineer, he has developed a decidedly visionary approach that blends aesthetics, functionality, communication, and a focus on users.
To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, MuMAPS and ECAL (the Lausanne Cantonal School of Art) are joining forces to pay tribute to this artist. Building on a research project conducted at ECAL and the publication of a book dedicated to Richard Authier, the exhibition traces his career spanning more than four decades and invites visitors to discover the lasting impact he had on Swiss industrial design.
The exhibition was funded with support from the Inno D-Sign Fund
