Invented in 1985 in Sainte-Croix, the term mécanique d’art encompasses all the skills and techniques of precision mechanics used to create works of art driven by movement. Music boxes, automata, orchestrions and gramophones take you into another world, where pins become music, bellows become bird song and cams imitate the dexterity of a hand.
In five different areas, our guides will take you on a journey of discovery into the many facets of art mechanics. To illustrate their point, numerous collector’s items are set in motion to enchant your ears and eyes and reveal the magic behind the mechanics (and vice-versa).

Our permanent exhibition “Mécanique d’art. The Factory of Dreams” is only accessible on guided tours. During the week, several official tours are organized. To attend, we recommend that you reserve your places by telephone (max. 10 people).
