Beneath the Jura Mountains, the sea
Geology and History of Sainte-Croix
by Guy Della Valle
What if, to understand the Jura, we had to start by looking right at our feet?
Why does the Jura have such unique landscapes? How were its folds and mountains formed? How, in turn, have humans transformed this region?
Throughout his lecture, based on the book of the same name published by Éditions Loisirs et Pédagogie, geologist Guy Della Valle takes us on a journey through a history spanning thousands of years. Combining scientific explanations, field observations, and an excursion through the Covatannaz Gorges, he unpacks the geological processes that shaped the Jura and teaches us how to interpret its landscapes.
An invitation to explore the Jura in a different way—by looking up and down at our feet!
